Club Director/18 Red Head Coach - Charita Stubbs
Charita J. Stubbs is the founder and Executive Director of Club Red. She is also the Athletic Director for Grace Christian School in Raleigh, where she teaches and is head coach for the varsity volleyball team. This season, Rita's team is participating in the NCISAA State Tournament - a second time for Grace Christian. Rita has been coaching volleyball since 1996. Since then, she has been involved with club, college, professional, high performance, and national teams. Rita spent 4 seasons as the head coach at NC State University and 9 seasons assisting at the University of Arizona prior. Rita coached with the US Junior National team in 2001, the US high performance camps in Salt Lake City, and several junior volleyball clubs in the Tucson and Raleigh areas. Prior to coaching, Rita spent one season playing professional volleyball in Lyon, France. She was also a four year starting middle blocker who played all 6 rotations for her last 3 years at Arizona. She was the first player in Arizona history to record 300 kills, 300 digs and 100 blocks in one season and still holds school records for career (117) and single-match (8) solo blocks. Rita played on two US Olympic Festival teams in 1993 and 1994 and played professionally in France in 1995. Rita has her CAP II certification, is certified to teach the required IMPACT course and is a graduate of the Women's Coaches Academy (WCA) & Dimension 2. Rita's mission is that of Club Red: to give the opportunity for young ladies to learn the skills necessary to improve their lives through the sport of volleyball. She dedicates herself to assisting all players within the club. Rita is married to Melvin Stubbs Sr. and they have one child Melvin Stubbs Jr. (4).
Assistant Club Director/14 Red Head Coach - Keisha Demps
Keisha J. Demps is a long time advocate for volleyball. She has had an extensive coaching and playing career. Having coached collegiately at Reno-Nevada, Boise State & NC State she has coached at least 7 all conference players. As a player at The University of Arizona she excelled as a middle blocker and took her top level game to the USPV with the Chicago "Dream Team". After playing professional she then coached the St. Louis Quest to an inaugural season. Keisha is married to Thomas Demps III and they have two children Jade (8) & Thomas IV aka Peanut (3). Board of Directors - Rita Stubbs, Keisha Demps, Keila Keadle, Chris Majewski & Tracy Barker Major decisions and the overall club direction will be handled by the Board of Directors. It is intended to include voices of club leadership, coaching and teaching experience, business vision, and parent perspective. Executive Director Rita Stubbs, will chair the board. Keisha Demps will serve as Assistant Director and Parent Liaison. Chris Majewski will lend his services from a business aspect. Tracy Barker, who's daughters currently plays in the club, will serve as a Parent Representative. And finally Keila Keadle will serve as the treasurer & financial expert. Parent Liaison - Keisha Demps The parent liaison will provide seamless communication between the club leaders and our athlete's families. Updates, parent concerns and important information will be communicated to parents and team representatives by Keisha Demps. Keisha has spent several years as a juniors club coach, college coach, and professional team coach.
Lead Trainer/18 Red Assistant Coach - John Lysik
John J. Lysik has taken on the role of Lead Trainer within Club Red, which includes clinic training, practice assistance, private lessons, team coach, etc. This is John's 4th year coaching with Club Red and 2nd year as assistant within the Peace College program. He has been coaching in the Carolina region since 2004 with many successful teams at Piedmont Volleyball Club and with the region's High Performance (HP) program. He played basketball, baseball, and golf in college and coached youth basketball for many years before getting involved in volleyball. John has a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from UCONN, and a master's in Management from RPI. He retired from engineering and program management after 20 years in military flight systems, telecommunications, and later optical communications. He has a lovely wife, Lisa and two awesome children Gary, who is a US Marine, and Brittany, who plays volleyball at Western Carolina University.
Coach 16 White - Kelly Baldridge
Kelly is starting his 3rd year with Club Red and his 7th year over all in the Carolina Region. Kelly has 13 years of coaching experience as a North Carolina club coach. Kelly is also a coach at Heritage High School in Wake Forest. With over 30 years of experience as a coach, in many different sports both male and female, Kelly is very knowledgeable. In his youth, a three sport athlete in High school, Kelly's foundation was developed by the many different coaching styles he endured along the way. OUt of all the sports, he fell in love with volleyball shortly after High school and played both indoor and beach volleyball while living in California. He is married to Colleen for 26 years, and have 2 great children Tami 22 and Ben 14. In his spare time he works at Saks 5th Ave and own PlyoCity a Youth training company. Kelly is excited to work with your daughter.
Coach - Pink Ladies 12 - Erika Barrett
Erika is currently a sophomore at NC State University. She is majoring in Environmental Engineering. Coach Erika is from Buffalo, NY where she played as an outside hitter while in HS. Coach Erika is really excited to start her first year of coaching with Club Red Volleyball.
Coach - 17 Red - Lindsay Benac
This is Lindsay Benac's first season with Club Red, after recently moving back to Raleigh from Southern California. She has been playing volleyball for over 15 years; including middle school, high school, club, beach and college volleyball. Lindsay has received many volleyball accolades including MVP of both her middle and high school teams, multiple first place finishes in beach tournaments and a gold medal at Junior Nationals with her club team, Cal Jrs. She earned a full scholarship to NCSU, where she played for 3 years under Coach Rita Stubbs. Lindsay has assisted multiple high school and club teams in California, including her most recent coaching position at So Cal Juniors before moving back to NC. She is excited to become a part of the Club Red family, and is dedicated to teaching young girls the basics of volleyball and life.
Coach 15 SW - Carter Calloway
Carter is entering his forth year with Club Red Volleyball and is very excited to be coaching. Carter's coaching experience in the sport of volleyball spans more than ten years as a Junior Boys Coach at Cary YMCA Boys volleyball club. He is very active where volleyball is concerned - assisting as a court coach for the Carolina region high performance clinics, USAV Boys tryouts, USAV girls tryouts, and USAV development and training camps. He served as the head coach at Cardinal Gibbons High School Junior Varsity (2005) and Freshman (2006-2008) teams. His also served as a volunteer assistant coach at North Carolina State University under Coach Rita Stubbs during the 2009 season. Carter played volleyball at George Mason University for 3 years. He truly enjoys being a student of the game.
Coach 15 SW - Joe Cockrell
Coach Joe Cockrell is a native of Raleigh, NC. Joe is married to Lisa and they have 4 children together. He is blessed to have two children attending Liberty University, Aaron and Abby, Jessie (9th grade) and Will (6th grade) both attend Wake Christian Academy. Joe has a passion and he uses his skills daily as a teacher of English at Wake Christian Academy.
Joe brings 15 years of coaching experience in school & club vball in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia to Club Red. Joe is excited to be on board.
Coach 16 White - Jennifer Eberhart
This will be Jennifer’s first season with Club Red bringing ten years of volleyball experience both as a player and a coach. Jennifer first began playing volleyball at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC where she started as a middle blocker for four years and was elected Captain for her last season. Her senior year, Jennifer made the 2006 ME-CA 6 All-Conference Team and the Senior All-Star Selection game for Cabarrus County. During her high school years, Jennifer played club volleyball at Carolina Juniors in Charlotte, NC. She attended UNC – Chapel Hill for undergrad where she played on the Club team for four years playing middle blocker and right side hitter. While obtaining her B.S. in Political Science and History, Jennifer helped coach at Carboro Parks & Rec with eighth graders. Jennifer lives and works in Raleigh, NC where she continues to play in local volleyball leagues. She is extremely excited to be joining Club Red this season and is looking forward to helping these girls further their volleyball skills and careers.
Coach - Pink Ladies - Melissa Emerson
Melissa is a sophomore in Chemical Engineering at NC State. Melissa is from Park City, UT where she played varsity volleyball in high school. During her off season, Melissa played on a competitive club team where she played as an outside hitter and setter. Melissa is very excited to start coaching with Club Red!
Coach - 13 White - Karen Gordon
Karen is a native of Durham, NC and no stranger to volleyball. She started playing in 7th grade and has yet to stop. Karen had an outstanding volleyball career at Greensboro College where she started all 4 years as a right side and middle hitter. Karen graduated from GC with a BA in Sociology in 2005. She just finished up a victorious season at Research Triangle Charter Academy and is beyond excited to start her first year coaching for Club Red. She truly loves helping players build their skills and learn to love the game as much as she does. Also, she is employed at Duke University Medical Center as a Research Technician in a Neuropharmacology Lab.
Coach 15 Red - Aundia Gray
Coach Aundia Gray hails from Syracuse, New York where she led her high school team in kills and blocks her junior and senior. She made her way to Greensboro, North Carolina when she enrolled at North Carolina A&T State University. She became part of the Lady Aggies Volleyball team as a freshman and started all four years as a middle and right side player. Once she graduated, she started teaching in Cary, North Carolina. Aundia, has just finished her first year coaching a winning season for Holly Springs High School Junior Varsity Team. She is eager to continue her coaching career with Club Red!
Coach - 15 Red - Branden Green
Branden just finished his 3rd season as the varsity head coach at Heritage High School in Wake Forest where he also teaches Physical Education. Prior to his position at Heritage, Branden was the head coach at Enloe High School in Raleigh, where he won two CAP 8 conference tournaments, one regular season championship, CAP 8 Coach of the Year and 4A East Region Finalist. To date, he has coached 14 All Conference players, one AVCA All American Watch List player, one NC AVCA/Maxpreps player of the week and two CAP 8 Players of the Year. Coach Branden has been with Club Red since it origionated four years ago and has coached 14 Red, 16 Red (which earned an American Bid to JOs) and will lead the 15 Red team this year. Branden lives in Raleigh with his wife Barbara and son Cameron; he and his wife are expecting their second child, a son, in 2013.
Coach - Pink Ladies 13 - Morgan Grouge
Morgan is a sophomore studying Chemical Engineering at NC State. She was born in Northern Virginia, but have spent most of her life living in Charlotte, NC. Morgan played two years of middle school volleyball and four years of high school varsity. During her senior year of high school Morgan began her coaching career where she coached girls between the ages of 6 and 11 and referred for a volleyball club in Charlotte. Morgan is extremely excited to have this opportunity to work for Club Red Volleyball

Coach 16 Red - Katrina Lightbourne
Katrina brings 16+ years of volleyball experience to Club Red as a player, coach and official. She is a graduate of St. Augustine’s College with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and North Carolina State University with a Masters in Accounting. Katrina has been a member of both The Bahamas Junior and Senior National Volleyball Teams from 1999 thru 2012. During her collegiate career at St Augustine’s College, Katrina helped lead her team to four back to back CIAA Volleyball Championships and two NCAA Division II Regional Championships.Katrina was named the CIAA Rookie of the Year in 2000 and was a member of the All Conference 1st Team for four straight years. She currently competes in both USAV indoor and outdoor competitions. Katrina not only brings experience as a player but she is currently a NCHSAA, Carolina Region and PAVO certified College Official. She currently resides in Raleigh and is a Site Controller for a manufacturing company in RTP.
Coach - 14 Black - Liz Markovitz
Liz is entering her 2nd year with Club Red after having spent this season coaching at Triangle day school in durham, she is excited for the upcoming club season. Liz's playing career started when she was 10 years old. Liz played all 4 years in high school and was awarded MVP both her Junior and Senior year as outside hitter. Liz position knowledge is great as she played as a setter and spent a season of club as middle. Liz played for wake tech last season in 2011 and played as outside hitter until an injury forced yet another position change, playing as DS/Libero. . Currently attending Wake tech before transferring to NCSU in the spring to focus on her academics in the field of business admin with a minor in team leadership and coaching education.
Coach 14 Red - Lindsay Mumma
Lindsay Mumma is returning to Club Red for a second season. She began playing volleyball in 7th grade, and has been involved in the sport ever since. She played club throughout junior high and high school, played two varsity and two club seasons in college, and has participated on several USAV teams and various competitive leagues both on the court and in the sand. After undergrad, she went to chiropractic college, where she dedicated most of her studies to treating and rehabilitating athletes. She opened her own practice in Raleigh and works to prevent and treat injuries. Lindsay was an assistant coach at Sanderson High School this past season. Her time spent off the court and not in her practice is filled with working out, spending time with her husband Chris, or participating in various races.
Coach 14 White - Spencer Reynolds
Spencer will be entering his 5th year coaching with the club. He is no stranger to volleyball as he has collegiate coaching experience as well as having worked with in the past with Challengers & CCVC. Spencer is CAP I certified and has coached the Carolina Region Select team in the High Performance Championships in 2008 - 2010. Spencer also served as Volunteer Assistant Coach for NCSU under coach Rita Stubbs for 3 years from 2005-2008. Spencer also played and served as president for the NC State Men's Club Team. He and his wife Erica are excited to be a part of the Club Red family.
Coach - 12 Red - Julie Stewart
This is Julie's first year with Club Red. She moved to Raleigh 2 years ago from Ohio. Julie has been playing volleyball for over 10 years including Jr. High, Club, and High School where she was an outside hitter. She has coached both Jr. High and club volleyball in Ohio, and is very excited to start caoching in NC. Julie is an Elementary Teacher for Wake County Schools.

Taylor Pritchard will be returning for her second year coaching with Club Red.
Coach - 13 Red Assistant - Deanna Thomas
Last season she was the assistant coach for Club Red 16-White, during which she
helped the girls medal in a regional tournament and helped prepare the girls of
reaching their goals of making their high school varsity teams. Taylor herself has
been playing volleyball for 11 years, starting as a middle school 6 th grader back in
San Diego, CA. She played all through high school, making varsity all four years and
playing at one of the top travel volleyball clubs on the west coast, Epic Volleyball
Club. It was during her senior season that she was recruited by North Carolina State
University as a defensive specialist/libero. While at NCSU, Taylor enjoyed all four
years as a varsity athlete, while also earning a B.S. in Nutrition and a minor in sports
science. During her years as a student athlete, Taylor coached in multiple camps
and clinics put on by the volleyball program and truly enjoys molding young girls
into promising volleyball players. She is excited for this upcoming Club Red season
and cannot wait to contribute her coaching once again, on and off the court.
This is my second season with Club Red. I am a native of Smithfield, NC. I started playing volleyball in 7th grade after a teacher talked me in to trying out for the team. I was hooked after that. I played through Middle School, High School and one year at St. Andrews College as a Middle Blocker. I then transferred to NC State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I am married to Dirk and have two daughters, Taylor (13) and Kelli (11). When Taylor was 8, I pulled her into volleyball so I could be involved with the sport again and have coached her ever since between recreation, club and beach volleyball. Like me she has loved playing from the very beginning. I have coached volleyball for 5 years mostly focusing on teaching proper technique in young players that have never played. I work for Itron, Inc. as a Software Quality Engineer where I have worked almost 15 years. I am excited to be back at Club Red for another season.

Why should I consider Club Red?
Club Red is about more than volleyball. Please don't take that the wrong way as we love to train, teach and of course win but we know volleyball is just a small portion of the average young ladies life. We strive to offer more than just volleyball. We believe in training the whole mind. We teach the game from both aspects so that every athlete can find success be it physically or mentally. We also have mandatory community service - it is important to give back and we do more than talk about it we make it happen.
What teams are offered and how much do they cost?
Club volleyball, in general, is an expensive endeavor for families. We strive to keep costs to a minimum while paying our coaches well for their expertise and travel to tournaments. The cost for being on a team will include out of region hotel stay, uniforms, practice shirts, team bag as well as transportation to either Junior Nationals or AAU which ever applies to the team in question.
What's included in dues?
Training: 3 training sessions per week for all 15 -18 Red teams on non playing weekends. 2 training sessions per week for all other teams. Pink Ladies will only train once a week.
Tournaments: Region (Jan-Apr), 1-2 Qualifiers, 2 Out-of-state (Jan/May), AAUs or Junior National Championships
Travel: Safe hotels for all non-region tournaments; AAU's, Junior National Championships
Gear: Jerseys (1-2 depending on team), Spandex (1-2 depending on team), T-shirts (2), Warm-ups (1), and Bag
Recruiting: Group and individual assistance & advice to help student athletes reach their collegiate goals
How do I join?
First, come get to know the staff. We have open gyms (see calendar) and informational meetings scheduled for you to learn more. When are practices?
Practices will be conducted throughout the week. With 1 practice over the weekend for Red team. On weeks where there is a weekend competition the teams will practice twice a week. However, if there is no competition on any given week the Red teams will practice three times with one being on Saturday or Sunday. All White teams, 14s, 13s & 12s will practice twice during the week. All practices will be held at Sport 2 Sport, Grace Christian or our 401 Location. Once teams are formed you will be notified of your team's practice location.
What if my daughter plays other sports?
We are excited about athletes who play multiple sports. We will work at all times to accommodate those athletes who play basketball, run track, softball or soccer. We believe that there is much to be learned from other sports which will only help in the game of volleyball.
